On November 9, 2024, on the occasion of the 42nd Anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20, 1982 - 2024), UEH Vinh Long organized a meeting on Vietnamese Teachers' Day November 20 for UEH alumni in the Mekong Delta and the launch of the UEH alumni association in Vinh Long Province with the theme "Journey to connect UEH generations for a sustainable Mekong".

Attending the meeting, on the guest side, there was the presence of Teacher of the People, Dr. Dang Huynh Mai - Former Deputy Minister of Education and Training, Former Director of the Department of Education and Training of Vinh Long Province; Mr. Ho Van Huan - Former Standing Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Former Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Vinh Long Province (Former student of Cohort 23VL); Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - Chief of Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee Office (Former student of Cohort 23VL and Former Graduate Student of Cohort 12CT); Ms. Le Thi Hong Linh - Deputy Director of Vinh Long Tax Department - Former student of Cohort 27VL, Former Graduate Student of UEH Cohort 30VL; Mr. Phan Thanh Hoang - Deputy Director of the Department of Finance, Former Graduate Student of UEH Cohort 29VL and Former UEH students in the Mekong Delta.

Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung - Vice President of UEH and Director of UEH Vinh Long, Vice President of UEH Alumni; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tu Van Binh - Deputy Head of UEH Department of Training; Dr. Hoang Hai Yen - Dean of School of Banking, UEH College of Business; Mr. Truong Minh Kiet - Head of UEH Department of Communications and Partnership, Vice President of UEH Alumni; Mr. Phan Ngoc Anh - Deputy Head of UEH Department of Communications and Partnership, General Secretary of UEH Alumni Board; Ms. Nguyen Thi Thy Lieu - Permanent Deputy Director of UEH Vinh Long; Mr. Nguyen Duc Vinh and Mr. Ho Thien Quyen - Deputy Directors of UEH Vinh Long, along with the participation of Leaders, Lecturers, Staff of Departments, Offices, Schools, Centers at UEH and UEH Vinh Long, and students representing cohorts studying at UEH Vinh Long.
Overview of the Meeting to Celebrate the 42nd Anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20, 1982 - 2024) and the Meeting of UEH Alumni in the Mekong Delta
Speaking at the meeting, Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - President of UEH - emphasized: “The Mekong Delta has possessed outstanding advantages and potentials for comprehensive economic development for the region and the country. The changes and challenges in the Mekong Delta require a highly qualified workforce to help fully exploit its economic potential and move towards sustainable development. I am very proud to witness the efforts of the teachers in the past time and of many generations of UEH alumni who have contributed to the development of the region. According to preliminary statistics, the number of students in the Mekong Delta studying full-time at the main campus in Ho Chi Minh City accounts for 16.64% and those studying in Vinh Long account for 82.5% of the total number of students. The number of students in the Mekong Delta graduating from the last 4 cohorts accounts for 18.89% of the total number of graduates. UEH part-time programs in the Mekong Delta were completed with 19,928 graduates out of a total of 79,042 part-time graduates (25% ). There are currently 356 students in the Mekong Delta region pursuing Master's degrees at the main campus and 692 students who have studied for a Master's degree in Vinh Long. This data is a clear demonstration of UEH's contribution to human resource development and knowledge transfer in the Mekong Delta region, especially affirming that UEH identifies UEH Vinh Long as an extension of UEH, a place to train high-quality human resources to contribute to the sustainable development of the region. UEH highly values the importance of connecting generations of lecturers and alumni through the UEH Alumni Network. This is a place to help generations of UEH students continue to share, to cooperate, and to support each other to develop and to promote the good traditions and pride of being students of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City. We believe that the quality of UEH is not only reflected in the curriculum and the skills that students are trained in but also in the successes of generations of alumni and students. It is you, the alumni, the talented individuals, who have contributed to changing and developing our homeland, contributing to the success of many generations of UEH students and creating sustainable values for society.”
On the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers' Day November 20, Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh, on behalf of the UEH Board of Management, congratulated and expressed his deep gratitude to the Leaders of the Provincial Education Establishments for always paying attention and facilitating all aspects for the formation and development of UEH Vinh Long, and wished the former leaders, staff and lecturers of the campus good health and happiness so that every year they can come back to share the joys and successes of generations of teachers and students. Concurrently, he also sent his congratulations and thanks to the team of Leaders, Managers - Lecturers - Officials of the main campus for always being dedicated and ready to coordinate and rapport with UEH Vinh Long to stabilize its operations. Thank you to all the staff, lecturers, officials and employees of UEH Vinh Long for their dedication, enthusiasm, eagerness to learn, and creativity. We hope that they will always maintain the flame of passion, continue to accompany and lead generations of students to success on the path of knowledge.

During the meeting, the President of UEH signed a decision to establish the Alumni Network of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City in Vinh Long Province (Alumni Vinh Long) for the 2024 - 2029 term, consisting of 22 members. This is important to connecting UEH alumni in the Mekong Delta, creating a community that supports each other in work, study, and in all areas of life. The establishment of Alumni Vinh Long has further affirmed the comprehensive development efforts of Vinh Long Campus in contributing to the sustainable development of the Mekong Delta.

Representing the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City Alumni Network in Vinh Long Province, Mr. Nguyen Tan Thu - Chairman of the Vinh Long Province Young Entrepreneurs Association - Director of Putin Company Limited - Head of the UEH Alumni Network in Vinh Long Province (Vinh Long Alumni), a former graduate student of UEH Cohort 31VL delivered a speech of honor to receive the trust of UEH leaders and expressed his gratitude for the dedication to the mission and responsibility of the Network in connecting UEH alumni. Vinh Long Alumni will be a strong connection network between generations of UEH students in Vinh Long and the whole Mekong Delta region.

At the meeting of UEH alumni in the Mekong Delta region, Ms. Le Thi Hong Linh - Deputy Director of the Vinh Long Tax Department, a former student of K27VL cum. former graduate student of UEH cohort 30VL - shared very touching and meaningful things: “Returning to the topic “For a sustainable Mekong”, each of us sitting here, if the Mekong Delta is not our birthplace, it is also our second homeland in our hearts. We are the owners of the Mekong Delta region, all of us have been given the key to the invaluable knowledge by our teachers, all of us should use it effectively, no matter what position we are in, no matter what job we are doing, each of us needs to act responsibly, unite to share and cooperate, support each other to develop and join hands for a sustainable Mekong”. Ms. Hong Linh also sent gratitude to teachers on the occasion of November 20: " We have been closely connected and loved in a common home - UEH. Today, returning here, I would like to thank the teachers who have guided and helped us achieve our dreams over the years. "

Nguyen Chi Nguyen - Former student of K46 in UEH Vinh Long Campus - also sent his deep thanks to the teachers and shared his story, experience and orientation when starting a new journey full of challenges and opportunities in finding a career and developing himself: “I am a student of the first course of UEH Vinh Long. Today, I would like to express my gratitude to UEH for assisting me in studying at UEH Vinh Long, which is closer to my home. I would like to express my sincere thanks to the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City Campus in Vinh Long province, the school that I have been attached to throughout my student life. It always creates many playgrounds for me: Scientific research, union activities, arts, and sports, helping my student life be very colorful. That is what helped me find a job in the right field, suitable for me, and have the opportunity to develop my career after graduation. Today, I have become a UEH alumnus and am happy to be part of the network. I will try harder and continue to learn to fulfill the mission of connecting, sharing and developing.”

The UEH Mekong Delta Alumni meeting and the Vietnamese Teachers' Day Celebration on November 20th were successfully held, demonstrating solidarity and deep gratitude to generations of UEH teachers and students. Through this event, UEH Vinh Long affirmed our mission of connecting the UEH alumni community in the Mekong Delta and joining hands towards a sustainable Mekong. Hopefully, generations of alumni will continue to promote this tradition, actively contributing to the development of the region and the country, and forever being the pride of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City.
