UEH organized the international online Seminar about "Perspectives of University Governance and Autonomy in the Vietnamese Higher Education"

On the morning of September 1st 2020, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) has organized the international seminar about Perspectives of University Governance and Autonomy in the Vietnamese Higher Education.

The seminar is a scientific activity under the Ministry of Science and Technology Program: "Research on a public university governance model under the mechanism of full autonomy" chaired by the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City. The seminar was held online (webinar) at 04 bridgeheads: (1) Ho Chi Minh City: at A101 Meeting Room, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City; (2) Hanoi: at Foreign Trade University and National Economics University; (3) Australia: at the University of Western Sydney, University of Technology Sydney and University of New South Wales; (4) USA: at Bloomsburg, University of Pennsylvania.

Attending the seminar were Dr. Yi-Chen Lan - the Pro Vice-Chancellor Global Development of Western Sydney (Australia); Prof.Dr. Nigel Barrett - University of Technology Sydney (Australia); Assoc.Prof.Dr. Ngo Viet Liem - University of New South Wales, Editor-in-Chief of Australasian Marketing Journal; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Thanh Ha - Former Chairman of Council of National Economics University; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Trinh Thuy Anh - Dean of Faculty of Business Administration, Ho Chi Minh City Open University. On the UEH side, there is Prof.Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong - UEH Council Chairman, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Phan Thi Bich Nguyet - Chairman of the Advisory Council and other leaders of UEH's subordinate units.

At the seminar, the authors shared and exchanged topics about management experience of public universities around the world to apply in Vietnam, and model of corporate governance in university; how to manage performance of academic staff in the context of university autonomy:  From theories to practices.

The seminar has contributed many useful ideas to help build governance-model for full-autonomous public universities to ensure sustainable development, improve training efficiency, financial transparency, as well as to create internal resources at autonomous public universities.
