In 2023, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) organized numerous workshops, forums, and interdisciplinary dialogues on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) hosted by government and regional NGOs. These engagements provided UEH the opportunity to connect and collaborate with regional partners, sharing solutions and innovations to foster sustainable development and contribute to achieving the SDGs amidst Vietnam's dynamic development and integration efforts.
The Economy & Environment Partnership for Southeast Asia (EEPSEA) held its Annual Meeting on October 27-28, 2023, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. This two-day event brought together researchers, policymakers, experts, and stakeholders across the region to discuss transformation and cooperative action towards a cleaner, greener, and more inclusive Southeast Asia.

UEH hosted the international workshop on the "Food Loss in the Catfish (Pangasius) Value Chain in the Mekong River Basin" at its Nguyen Tri Phuong campus. Attendees included UEH Vice President Dr. Dinh Cong Khai and HAPRI Director Assoc. Prof. Vo Tat Thang, alongside other UEH scientists. UEH researchers presented their articles and contributed ideas to raise awareness about food loss and waste, thereby creating conditions to attract private sector investment in reducing food loss and waste for the pangasius industry in the Mekong River basin of Vietnam.

Hosted by UEH’s College of Economics, Law, and Government (CELG), the annual International Conference on Economics, Law, and Government (ELG) took place on September 28-29, 2023. Discussions centered on the main theme of "Accelerating Comprehensive Green Transition in Developing Nations." The conference allowed scholars and experts to share research findings, insights, and experiences on the economic, legal, and governance aspects of comprehensive green transition, as well as its potential social, environmental, and economic impacts.

On April 5, 2023, in celebration of 50 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Netherlands, UEH co-hosted the international event "ThinkBike - Sustainable Development" with the Consulate General of the Netherlands and Dutch Cycling Embassy representatives. Nearly 90 students from UEH and other universities attended, engaging in lively discussions on sustainable lifestyles and best practices for promoting cycling.

On August 23, 2023, UEH was honored to welcome Australia's Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Australian Diplomatic Delegation for a "Student Town Hall" dialogue. This event, part of the 50th-anniversary celebration of Vietnam-Australia diplomatic relations, attracted over 250 UEH students and faculty representatives. This event is not only an important milestone in promoting the friendship between the two countries but also an invaluable opportunity for the younger generations of both nations to share views on global issues such as sustainable development, climate change, and energy transition.

From September 14 to 18, 2023, a UEH delegation led by Vice President Dr. Dinh Cong Khai, along with Mr. Hoang Minh Tuan Anh, Chairman of the District 7 People’s Committee, visited South Korea. At the meeting with representatives of Seocho district, the delegation had friendly exchanges with Mayor Jun Sung-soo and leaders of the Department of Culture and Tourism, the Department of Smart City, and other departments about the idea of changing lives through the environment and culture, raising people's awareness of the forest environment through books.

On October 28, 2023, UEH's Institute of Smart Cities and Management (ISCM), in collaboration with Green+ Group, organized a multi-disciplinary workshop on local green growth. The event gathered experts, academics, and students to discuss "Green Growth - An Opportunity for Local Development" along the Saigon River corridor and the roles of businesses and universities in sustainable development. The workshop discussed: 1) Planning and implementing the Saigon River corridor development project - "Awakening the Green Dragon" and 2) Combining multidisciplinary development, the role of enterprises and universities in raising awareness and action for sustainable development goals.

On October 25, 2023, UEH collaborated with local government and other universities to host the national workshop on "Circular Economy - Pathway to Sustainable Development" at UEH Vinh Long Campus. This workshop served as a platform for scientists, agencies, and businesses in the Mekong Delta region to discuss circular economy models and share insights.
