The University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) prioritizes pedestrian spaces and walkways on campus, aiming to build a green, safe, and sustainable learning environment. Encouraging walking and limiting motor vehicles helps reduce noise and pollution and creates an opportunity for students, faculty, and visitors to enjoy the fresh air on campus. This represents a step forward in UEH's commitment to improving the quality of life and promoting an environmentally friendly lifestyle within the community.
Aiming to build a clean and beautiful campus and to achieve comprehensive "greening," in July 2023, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) officially issued the Green University Practice Regulations – Green Campus, applicable across all UEH campuses and the Vinh Long branch. These regulations encourage staff, employees, students, and related units to actively engage in sustainable practices.
The regulations were issued to foster awareness and practices for a Green University among staff, employees, and students at UEH; to establish a standard toward a Green Campus; and they form an important component of the university's sustainable strategy. The Green University Regulations apply to individuals, including students, faculty, staff, and stakeholders, promoting eco-friendly actions that positively impact the environment and create a sustainable campus space. Chapter 1, Article 2 of the Regulations focuses on promoting physical activity and encourages everyone to use the stairs to save resources, reduce noise, and improve health.
Green University Practice Regulations Issued in July 2023
In July 2023, as part of UEH Green University Practice Regulations, UEH encourages stair usage by creatively decorating stairwell areas with eye-catching calorie-count stickers and lively visuals. These engaging displays promote the habit of taking the stairs among staff, employees, and students and improve the aesthetic appeal of the space. By visualizing calories burned, UEHers can better appreciate the health benefits, transforming stairways into vibrant, inspiring spaces.
This enlivens the campus atmosphere and spreads a spirit of active, sustainable living throughout the UEH community. Taking the stairs has become more than physical exercise; it offers a refreshing and motivating experience, fostering a healthy lifestyle within the daily academic and work environment.
Initiatives to Encourage Stair Use for Students, Faculty, and Staff at Campuses A, B, and N
Prioritizing pedestrian pathways within the UEH campus fosters a safe, fresh environment and promotes a green and active lifestyle for students, faculty, and visitors. This helps reduce noise and air pollution while creating opportunities for everyone to enjoy the campus's green spaces and relaxing atmosphere in the heart of the city. It reflects UEH’s commitment to building a sustainable and eco-friendly campus, improving quality of life, and raising awareness about environmental stewardship within the UEH community.
