On April 28, 2021, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) welcomed Mr. Joseph Mayhew - Deputy Ambassador of New Zealand in Vietnam, to visit and discuss educational cooperation and exchange programs between New Zealand universities and UEH.
Attending the meeting to welcome the Deputy Ambassador, there was Prof.Dr. Nguyen Trong Hoai - Vice President, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Phong Nguyen - Deputy Head of Department of Research Management - International Cooperation, MSc. Le Thanh Nhan - Deputy Head of School of Economics, Director of the Vietnam - New Zealand Program and MSc. Phan Nhu Minh - Deputy Director of the International School of Business, Director of the International Language and Country Studies Institute, with MSc. Nguyen Trang Thanh Thuy - Vice President and Coordinator of the Victoria Wellington University's Global Exchange Program.

Since 2004, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City has been one of the partners who has established an early cooperation relationship with major universities in New Zealand. More than 15 years of cooperation and development, the Bachelor Exchange Program between the Victoria Wellington University and the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City has had nearly 500 students studying. In recent years, UEH has also developed new postgraduate programs with Massey University as well as collaborative programs with Waikato University. Many alumni from these programs now hold middle and senior positions at economic corporations in many parts of the world.
In addition to university cooperation and international student exchange programs, UEH has also expanded partnership in research and capacity development. With support from New Zealand schools, some UEH lecturers were sent to Victoria Wellington University, Massey University to improve their English proficiency, join short-term training programs while some other young lecturers received scholarships and doctorate studies at top universities in New Zealand.
In addition, the Deputy Ambassador also exchanged views on Vietnam's economic situation, challenges in the development process between the context of COVID-19 and the opportunity to expand cooperation between the two countries Vietnam and New Zealand.
