Prof. Scott Ross Baker is an Associate Professor of Finance at the Kellogg School of Management (Northwestern University, US) and is a Research Fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research. His research is concentrated in empirical finance and macroeconomics. He published his papers on very top-tier journals such as American Economic Review, Quarterly Journal of Economics, Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis and so forth. He is currently engaged in a variety of research projects regarding household financial choices and the measurement of consumption, as well as research regarding the effects of policy uncertainty on financial markets and growth. Scott joined the Finance Department at Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management in July 2014. He was born and raised in San Diego, California and received B.A.’s in Economics and Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley in 2007. He received a Ph.D. in Economics from Stanford University in June 2014.
Highlight: With Nick Bloom (Stanford University) and Steven J. Davis (University of Chicago, Booth School of Business), Scott is the person who constructed the policy-related economic uncertainty (EPU). This index has been caught the media attention since 2011 with hundreds of newspapers and headlines regarding these indices. Based on this index, there are 25 countries which replicated to build up national EPU.
