As little kids, we’re often asked, “Do you like wearing uniforms?”
For the most part, the answer was always “no”.
In the simple mind of a young child, uniforms, at the time, represented a rigidity that stifled imagination and prohibited the freedom of self-expression through the day-to-day outfit choice. Not to mention, kids often tire and grow out of their uniforms quickly, so it was rare to find one who deliberately enjoyed said choice of clothing.
However, as time passes and the innocence of what was has faded away, the adults often find themselves gravitating towards the little joys of the good old days. A simple piece of memory from a long-lost toy, a sense of belonging from sharing the same interests or outfits, they are all great at reminding us of who we were or where we belong to before life got in the way.
With that in mind, our team at RMIC was set to find something that would tie us together, to signify our individuality but also emphasize our togetherness. And after much deliberation and consideration, we finally landed on a vibrant red for the ladies and a deep navy blue for the gentlemen.
In our eyes, these two colors complement one another harmoniously, symbolizing the connection between everyone in the office. While each holds certain sets of expectations and responsibilities, at the end of the day, we are all working towards a collecting goal of turning UEH into a key strategic international academic partner to various institutions worldwide across different disciplines, including academic training, scientific research and workforce development.
On another note, it was also fun to don our uniforms for we might not be iconic beauties of the world, but through these meticulously-picked dress codes, all eyes were on us whenever we walked into any room.
