University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City and University of Regensburg, Germany Jointly Organizing the Workshop: “Economic Growth and Technology in Southeast Asia”

On September 12, 2024, University of Economics HCMC (UEH) and University of Regensburg (Germany) jointly organized the Workshop on the topic “Economic Growth and Technology in Southeast Asia”. The workshop attracted researchers from UEH and University of Regensburg participating to discuss and to share knowledge on the topic of Economic Growth and Technology in Southeast Asia.

Attending the workshop, on behalf of the University of Regensburg, there were Prof. Michael Dowling - Chair of Innovation and Technology Management; Prof. Gabriel S Lee - Professor of Economics; PhD candidates and graduate students of the University of Regensburg. On behalf of UEH, there was the participation of Assoc. Prof. Pham Khanh Nam - Rector of the UEH College of Economics, Law and Government.

At the beginning of the workshop, Dr. Ho Hoang Anh presented his research results on the topic "Economic growth and technological process in Vietnam". Many issues were discussed enthusiastically as follows:

  • The practice indicates that there is being a lack of economic reforms, making the process of economic and technological growth difficult;
  • Some reforms need more focus in the future: land, industrialization, population, education and international trade.

Also at the program, PhD candidate Ho Nguyen Hoang Phuc presented his research results on the topic “Relationship between education, internet access and ASEAN migration – a gravity approach”.

In the afternoon session on September 12, PhD candidates from the University of Regensburg presented their research results on the issue of economic growth and technology in Southeast Asia.

During the workshop, professors and PhD candidates from UEH and University of Regensburg actively contributed their opinions to the research, sharing new perspectives and aiming at a common goal of economic and technological growth in the future. In addition, practical solutions were suggested and discussed together in order to find the most optimal solution based on the current economic context and the characteristics of countries in the Southeast Asian region.

The workshop was successful with the outcomes of many practical solutions, contributing to strengthening the spirit of international cooperation between Vietnam and Germany and aiming for sustainable economic and technological growth.
