UEH Strategic Orientation in 2022

Towards evolving University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City to be a Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University, highly reputable in the fields of training, researching, and consulting economic science, business, law, management, technology, and design is UEH strategic target of UEH in 2021 - 2025 period and the upcoming years.

UEH is sustainable in Vietnamese market and, step by step, directing steadily to the Asian and international market on training human resources in terms of scientific research and international publication, being present in Asian and international rankings.

To carry out these strategic targets, UEH determines to conduct strategic orientation in 2022 as follows:

1. RESTRUCTURING UEH, FORMING A MULTIDISCIPLINARY AND SUSTAINABLE UNIVERSITY

In the new stage, under the impacts of 4.0 Industrial Revolution which affect all manufacturing activities, global business, customer behavior changes, and working methods, these changes also strongly affect the activities of universities. Therefore, to continuously develop significantly and sustainably, UEH deploys solutions to successfully restructure with the aim of becoming a multidisciplinary and sustainable university. In accordance with this orientation, UEH brand repositioning strategies are implemented.

2. INTERNATIONALIZATION AND MULTI-DISCIPLINARY, MULTI-FIELD EDUCATION, TECHNOLOGY APPLICATION, AND INNOVATION

  • UEH maintains internationally advanced program application in training undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctorate students.  
  • Boosting English language teaching and training in English language majors.
  • Increasing the number of affiliated programs with internationally reputable collaborators.
  • Launching several new majors: Data Science, Software Engineering, Architecture and Smart City Design, Technology and Innovation Management, Technology Application in Tourism/Smart Tourism, and so on. To succeed in implementation, new majors need to be standardized and internationalized initially, UEH budgets need to be invested in training the teaching team, assisting technologies, scientific research, and international relations as priorities.

3. PROMOTING ACADEMIC RESEARCH AND APPLIED RESEARCH TO ATTAIN THE RESEARCH-ORIENTATED UNIVERSITY TARGET.

Academic scientific research and international publication articles are increased in Scopus, ISI, and ABDC systems. Publicizing international articles to assure maximal usefulness for researchers and practical activists. Applied scientific research and consultancies serving eco-social development for the whole country is encouraged.

4. EXPANDING DOMESTIC AND INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

  • Evolving international relations with advanced institutions and international organizations. Promoting relations upon international scientific conferences, lecturer and student exchanges, and student transferring and receiving. 
  • The cooperation with units, organizations, and corporations on research and consultancy is developed. Expanding collaborations with locals, regions, corporates, groups, and associations. Agreeing with partners on sharing, and exploiting resources in greater technology applications serving teaching and researching tasks.

5. UNIVERSITY MODERN MANAGEMENT SERVING WELL FOR TRAINING, SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH, DOMESTIC AND INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

  • Standardizing the lecturer team, raising the ratio of Doctoral lecturers and their English competency.
  • Unifying internal and external forces that create maximal conditions for lecturers - management officials to have opportunities to study and research abroad. Attracting highly-qualified and overseas lecturers to participate in training and researching. Initiating more conditions for Post-doc Programs to be deployed abroad.
  • Managing UEH through strategies, procedures, and publicly democratic science regulations, in accordance with market signals to adjust the content of activities, and considering learners as the center,  obeying commitments with domestic and international partners. 

6. UPGRADING IT APPLICATIONS IN TRAINING, SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH, AND UNIVERSITY MANAGEMENT

  • Solving traditional business models based on technology science and achievements of 4.0 Industrial Revolution, applying simulation and virtual reality platforms to develop reality-approaching and technology-applying abilities for learners; applying professionally online-offline integrated teaching. Subjects affiliated to the digital and sharing economy are also launched, listed as Financial Technology, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Business Data Visualization, Interactive Designing Communication, and so on.
  • Concentrating on technology application in scientific research, which is modern software processing data, analyzing big data, and making use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in research.
  • Digitalizing training, scientific research, and university management activities towards a smart university.

Successfully carrying out these 6 strategic orienting activities above means successfully repositioningthe UEH brand, with 04 positioning values as follows:

  1. UEH learners are orientated to be global citizens acting for sustainable development;
  2. Teaching, research, and consultancy bring positive results to the community & the society;
  3. All UEH members together aim at contributing to a sustainably developing future.
