UEH in Times Higher Education Rankings 2025
The journey of comprehensive internationalization coming from internal strength
Implementing the Party’s and Government’s international integration policy, UEH's strategy to promote autonomy and internationalization in training, research and University governance started in 2012, in accordance with the solid foundation of a national key public university.
UEH's internationalization in training is implemented comprehensively with 3 main activities as follows: (1) Internationalization of training programs; (2) International student linkage and exchange; (3) Improving the quality of human resources in accordance with international standards. To be illustrated in further details:
(1) Internationalization of training programs
UEH's training programs are built and designed in accordance with the curriculum of the Top 200 Universities in the world. Concurrently, it continuously promotes accreditation activities at the institutional level and training programs in accordance with international standards: recognized as meeting educational institution standards and successfully conducting accreditation of 13 training programs according to the FIBAA International Quality Accreditation Standards (Europe), 7 training programs meeting AUN-QA standards (ASEAN University Quality Assurance Network ). It is expected that in the 2023 - 2025 accreditation roadmap, UEH will assess an average of 6 to 7 training programs in accordance with FIBAA standards each year.
The effort to achieve international training standards, recognized by prestigious organizations, is one evidence affirming the strong determination of UEH to internationalize. Some noticeable achievements include Top 1000 Best Business Schools in the World (Eduniversal Ranking 2014, 2018); Top 100 Best Masters Rankings in the World (Eduniversal Ranking 2018); Top 01 in the best economics, business and law schools in Vietnam (Webometrics Ranking 2023); Top 25 leading universities in the world in the field of Knowledge Transfer, according to the standard of "Contribution to lifelong career development" (U-Multirank Ranking) for 05 consecutive years 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020.
(2) International student exchange and linkage
The establishment of the International School of Business - ISB in 2009, with programs entirely taught in English, is one of the first steps demonstrating UEH's determination towards internationalization.
With the orientation of training global citizens with knowledge and the ability to act for sustainable development, UEH has created diverse opportunities for learners to acquire knowledge from leading universities. Up to the present time, UEH has successfully implemented training modes at different levels listed as Full English, Partial English, or joint training with corporations in Asia UEH ASEAN Coop. UEH offers 26 international joint training programs. UEH Programs to bring students to the world and international students to study at UEH are held regularly in the form of student exchange, transfer, study abroad, and internship at companies in developed countries (USA, France, Australia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Korea, Italy and so on). This is the foundation for a large proportion of international students to experience and study at UEH. In addition to international scholarship policies, the international student festival is organized systematically.
(3) Improving the quality of human resources in accordance with the international standards
In its efforts to transform towards internationalization, UEH identifies human resources as the key factor to create a strong transformation. Therefore, the school has attracted the world's leading researchers and experts to work, with attractive policies and focused investment in quality improvement. Currently, UEH has 122 international experts and researchers working, teaching and researching. From 2013 to the present, over 10,000 UEH lecturers have been sent to participate in short-term training and development programs, and another 440 lecturers have studied at prestigious institutions domestically and abroad.
The internationalization of UEH's research activities is promoted through the development of academic research, international publications, and knowledge dissemination to the community based on the UEH University's internal strength. Over the past 10 years, UEH has implemented diverse research capacity-building programs for UEH staff besides other breakthrough policies in rewarding, sponsoring, and encouraging quality publications, in parallel with the development and implementation of management regulations and rules on academic integrity.
This explains the increasing number and quality of research articles published in prestigious international journals, reaching more than 500 articles per year, an average of 1 article/lecturer, and the percentage of lecturers with research published internationally is increasing, accounting for nearly 40%. Of which, 85% of the articles published in journals are ranked Q1 and Q2 in the Scopus list, approximately 30% of publications are published in journals in the Top 10% of journals with the highest citation index in the same field (CiteScore), and more than 50% of publications are associated with 17 SDGs (United Nations Sustainable Development Goals). Noticeably, with continuous efforts, the Journal of Asian Business and Economic Studies - one of the first Vietnamese journals in the field of economics and business - has been ranked Q1 in Scopus.
With the internal strength of the collective, UEH has been steadily on the path to realizing the internationalization strategy with the vision of becoming a leading Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University in Asia, with a commitment to training global citizens and contributing knowledge to the community for a sustainable future. "UEH will continue its internationalization path with training and research capacity contributing to the sustainable development of Vietnam and knowledge for the world scientific community. We choose to take the main path with the internal strength of the lecturers and staff of the school. Although that path is full of hardships and challenges, with the pioneering spirit and desire to contribute, the UEH team will always persistently move forward to be worthy of being a key national public university of Vietnam in particular and the region in general" is what is affirmed Professor Nguyen Dong Phong - Chairman of the University Council.
