On the morning of September 5, 2022, at Room A205, the signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement between the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) took place and Kwangwoon University, Korea (KWU) with the purpose of promoting the scientific research development, teaching and international projects of the two Universities, especially the project “City to City” so as to enhance the development of HCMC and Cities in Southeast Asia.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh shared: “UEH, as the leading key University in Vietnam, is gradually asserting our reputation on the world’s educational map. With the orientation of internationalization, UEH always believes in the power of cooperation with international partners, and we are happy to continue this long-standing relationship with Kwangwoon University. UEH looks forward to working with Kwangwoon on activities related to City to City project in order to promote the development of HCMC and South-East Asia (SEA) cities, contribute to the growth, development and impact of Korean industry and community in Vietnam and SEA. We can together support startups; connect stakeholders for the development of both cities; do research; develop higher education programs as well as consulting and training programs for both public and private sectors."

Dr. Kim Jongheon - President of Kwangwoon University - sent his sincere thanks for the warm welcome of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) and stated: “Kwangwoon School, established in 1934, has been developed for more than 85 years. At this time being, our University is very honored to be one of the major universities with diverse achievements in the field of electronics and media. I am very grateful to the Chairman of UEH University Council for facilitating this visit to UEH and signing a cooperation agreement. I absolutely hope that in the future our two Universities can connect with each other and develop in many fields, especially in the field of information technology, electronics, as well as smart cities and other programs that UEH has been developing. In addition, we look forward to cultivating and developing more areas of training and knowledge exchange between the two universities. Within the framework of this ceremony, the representatives of the two Universities introduced training activities, scientific research and technology transfer; at the same time, discussing cooperation between the two Universities on student and lecturer exchange; developing curicumlum and syllabus; program accreditation; joint degrees/dual degrees; courses; co-organizing Workshop/ Conference/ Publishing and competition; cooperation in research, project implementation, internship programs and other activities. Concurrently, the two sides exchanged details regarding the “City to City” Project with the following activities as follows:
In terms of the spirit of a comprehensive agreement, the two Universities have officially signed a cooperation agreement to further develop the fields of mutual interest in academic and professional areas, with the following contents:
KWU and UEH are obliged to render organizational assistance for the students and faculty coming into a territory of their countries for educational and cultural purposes. Both institutions also agree to continue working together to promote further understanding and cooperation in academic and continuing education programs and to develop further projects and activities that may benefit each other.

Kwangwoon University, established in 1934, is the first University to teach Electronic Engineering in Korea. Currently, Kwangwoon University, with high rankings and a reputation in education in Korea, has more than 10,000 students studying. This is also one of the 4 best Korean Language schools in Seoul for international students. In the context of prosperous progress during Vietnam-Korea relations, UEH and Kwangwoon University have more opportunities to promote cooperation in a more practical way, bringing more opportunities for research, teaching, learning and development towards the experiences for lecturers and students between the two Universities.
