Series of International Conferences between UEH and partner universities of the Quality Management in Complex Organizations project (ComO QM)

From December 7th to 8th, 2017, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) held International Evaluative Workshops and the “Internationalization of Higher Education and its Influence on University Institution Rankings” workshop of the ComO QM project - a collaborative project between four universities: Johannes Gutenberg University (JGU) Mainz, University of Potsdam (UP) in Germany, Can Tho University (CTU) and the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH).

Representatives of JGU Mainz who attended the workshop were Prof. Gregor Daschmann - Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Media, and Sports (JGU); Prof. Harald Paulsen - Academic Staff and former Director of the Gutenberg Teaching Council; Mr. Moritz Wolf - Research Associate at the Center for Quality Assurance and Development (ZQ); Ms. Jacqueline Dagdagan - Research Associate, Center for Quality Assurance and Development. Representatives of UP were Prof. Florian Schweigert - Vice President for International Affairs, Alumni and Fundraising; Prof. Andreas Borowski - Director of the Center for Teacher Training and Education Research; Dr. Benjamin Apelojg Lecturer - Chair of Technology and Vocational Orientation; Ms. Michaela Fuhrmann - Managing Director, Centre for Quality Development (ZfQ); Marcel Faaß - Research Associate, Centre for Quality Development (ZfQ); Frank Niedermeier - ASEAN-QA Project Coordinator Research Associate, Centre for Quality Development (ZfQ); Representatives of Can Tho University were Assoc. Prof. Truong Dong Loc - Vice Dean of School of Economics; Assoc. Prof. Vu Ngoc Ut - Vice Dean of School of Fishing.

And on UEH's side, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong - President; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trong Hoai - Vice President; Dr. Nguyen Khanh Nam - Vice Dean of School of Economics; Mr. Bui Quang Hung, MBA - Head of Department of Finance - Accounting, Dr. Ly Thi Minh Chau - Head of Department of Quality Assurance - Curriculum Development along with leaders and officials of UEH, attended the workshop.

The “Evaluative Workshops” focused on announcing the overall research results from the 04 universities involved in the ComO project:

“Study motivation” survey results from 04 universities;

“Achievement motivation” survey results from 04 universities;

“University community” survey results from 04 universities;

The results from these surveys support UEH to promote suitable strategies to conduct and develop training programs, encourage the success of policies in growing students’ motivation and attracting students’ attention, especially for those following UEH advanced international programs, through mass media and making efforts in growing the connection among former students, recruiters, and UEH.

The international workshop, topic: “Internationalization of Higher Education and its influence on University Institution Rankings”, the work of UEH with two European Universities (JGU and UP) took place on December 8th, 2017.

Prof.Dr. Nguyen Trong Hoai introduced the conference with the two presentations delivered by Prof. Florian Scheweigert - Vice President of UP and Dr. Tran Mai Dong - Head of Department of Research Administration - International Relations of UEH with the participation from other partner universities of ComO QM and representatives from other International Universities – Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City, Centre for Education Accreditation (CEA - HCM City), HCMC University of Technology and Education, Nguyen Tat Thanh University, Viet Duc University, International School of Business, School of Tourism, Department of Quality Assurance - Curriculum Development.

This conference is a key opportunity for European partners and other Viet Nam Universities to share ideas in the aim of developing internationalization strategies through training activities, international research, international accreditation and, especially, forming social connections among international universities.
