The Southern region has been proven to be a fast-growing agricultural area. The restructuring of crops and livestock is providing opportunities for agricultural market development to improve livelihoods for the poor, opportunities for high-quality agricultural production to serve consumers, and opportunities to contribute to Vietnam's economy. However, the Southern region also suffers from general weaknesses from the current situation from Vietnam's agriculture, whereas the majority of exports focuses on raw or preliminary products, and there is no concentration on land planning as well as no geographical and marketable instructions of for agricultural products.
With the aim to discuss and propose output solutions for agricultural products in the Mekong Delta region, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Vinh Long Department of Industry and Trade co-organize the Seminar "Outputs for agricultural products in Southern provinces" under the direction of the People's Committee of Vinh Long province and the Department of Domestic Markets (Ministry of Industry and Trade), along with the participation of the Institute of Economy & Environment Partnership for Southeast Asia (EEPSEA) of the Institute of Policy and Strategy for Agriculture and Rural Development (IPSARD), and the Center for Environment for Development (EfD-Vietnam).
The researches at the seminar play an important role in understanding and overcoming the obstacles in multiple aspects of agriculture sustainably for the region, as well as ensuring farmers to have the opportunity to be benefitted from such solutions. Research topics are presented and discussed at the seminar with the aim to work towards the future. As policies have changed and international agreements have been signed, this seminar will be an opportunity for researchers to share new knowledge, extensive research and their studies on two topics:
