On the morning of September 20, 2024, the opening ceremony of undergraduate programs batch 50 (studying in Ho Chi Minh City) solemnly took place at the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City - UEH, marking the beginning of the 50th generation of new students on the "Infinite Journey Towards a Sustainable Future".
The opening ceremony of full-time undergraduate programs batch 50 in 2024 is an extremely important event, marking the beginning of an exciting future journey for the new students - the UEHer generation continuing the sustainable journey of UEH.
With this meaning, UEH opening ceremony batch 50 with the theme "Your Infinite Journey Towards a Sustainable Future" officially took place simultaneously at 2 locations at Hall A.116 (campus A, 59C Nguyen Dinh Chieu, Ho Chi Minh City) and Hall B1.302, Lobby B1 (campus B, 279 Nguyen Tri Phuong, Ho Chi Minh City). Concurrently, it was livestreamed online on the following platforms: UEH Fanpage, Admissions Fanpage, Youtube UEH Channel.
Attending the program, on behalf of UEH, there were Prof.Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong - Party Committee Secretary, Chairman of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City Council; Prof.Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - President of UEH; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Bui Quang Hung - Vice President of UEH; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Bich Nguyet - Chairwoman of UEH Strategy and Policy Advisory Council; Prof.Dr. Nguyen Trong Hoai - Former Vice President of UEH, Editor-in-Chief of Journal Asian Business and Economic Studies; Dr. Nguyen Thien Duy - Chairman of UEH Union, Chief of Party - Union Organization Office; Boards of Management of UEH Member Colleges; Heads and Deputy Heads of UEH units; and nearly 8,000 UEH students both in person and online.
In addition, the program has the participation of special guests: Ms. Le Huynh Phuong Thuc - General Director of Guardian Vietnam, former student of UEH K19.

The 50th generation of students was given a message by UEH called “Your Infinite Journey Towards a Sustainable Future” . With this message, UEH wishes to honor students’ infinite efforts to conquer his/her UEH dream; to express gratitude for the persistent sacrifices of parents - the solid and endless support to the students; to be proud of the continuous succession of UEHer generations over the past 50 years - the new students and more than 250,000 alumni are all outstanding individuals who have been making constant efforts to create their own path, which is also the way the three letters “U-E-H” are present in all career fields. Above all, “Infinite Journey” refers to the path UEH has chosen to become the leading Multidisciplinary and Sustainable University in Asia.
Wishing the 50th generation to fulfill these expectations, Prof.Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - President of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City - advised the new students:
“Your future will be decided by you through your attitude and actions. Today, I would like to send you a message:
Pursue your passion with the aspiration of youth at UEH. Entering this journey of knowledge, every step has meaning and value, do not be afraid to explore, always maintain curiosity, constantly learn and be ready to face challenges, sometimes the path of learning can be bumpy and full of difficulties; it is the burning desire that will help you overcome challenges and become more mature, each lesson, each experience can open up opportunities for you in the future.
Develop creativity and independent thinking at UEH - the ideal environment for students to take opportunities to experiment and experience ideas and solutions leading to future success.
Mastering technology and integrating applied technology in majors at UEH will help students apply it flexibly to solve problems at work as well as in life.
Build positive relationships with friends, teachers and the community, actively participate in extracurricular activities, projects and scientific research to enrich the student life and open up opportunities for career development journeys.
Be positive in thinking and acting. Be sustainable in perception, behavior and purpose in life and work.”

In addition, with stories from her own journey of studying, starting a business and achieving success, special guest - Ms. Le Huynh Phuong Thuc - General Director of Guardian Vietnam, former student of UEH K19 brought meaningful sharing to the new students with the topic "Unlimited journey of personal development: From Marketer to the first Vietnamese CEO of Guardian Vietnam".

At the ceremony, in order to recognize the efforts of new students who achieved excellent results in each admission method at UEH (HCMC), UEH commended and awarded certificates of merit, rewards and scholarships with a total value of 43.4 million VND/student to 4 Valedictorians; and awarded certificates of merit, rewards and scholarships with a total value of 38.4 million VND/student to 14 salutatorians.

Aiming at the sustainable development goal SDG4 “Ensuring equitable education for all”, this year, UEH has allocated 70 billion VND for a comprehensive scholarship policy. Of which, nearly 10 billion VND is granted in admission scholarships to 840 new students who have passed the entrance exam with high results. UEH prioritizes granting scholarships to 50% of students admitted to new programs in the fields of Computer Science, Information Technology, and Engineering Technology. Concurrently, an additional 1.5 billion VND is allocated for 150 scholarships to support new K50 students who are in difficult circumstances.
Continuing the mission of the Giving to UEH Program "Acting for a sustainable future", UEH has awarded 49 full scholarships worth 15,600,000 VND/scholarship to new students in difficult circumstances.

“I have been here and my next home is UEH. Although he did not have the full love of his family and relatives, he persevered and strived to excel as one of the new students of K50.

As a cultural feature that has been nurtured for nearly 50 years, the traditional flag-raising ceremony officially marks the beginning of a new generation at UEH - the generation that continues the infinite sustainable journey.
The flag-raising ceremony was led by the traditional flag of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City and UEH highest achievements over the past 50 years, which are the title of Labor Hero and the First Class Independence Medal awarded by the President.
Following were flags from UEH College of Business; UEH College of Economics, Law and Government; UEH College of Technology and Design; International School of Business - ISB and Vinh Long Campus - where K50 students are studying with the effort to freely create, explore themselves and develop comprehensively.
Transferring knowledge and continuing the generation, the alumnus of Course 46 - Tran Nguyen Thanh Cong, an excellent graduate of Business Administration, presented the traditional flag to the new Valedictorians of K50; and alumnus of K46 - Nguyen Vo Kim Ngan , former Vice President of UEH Student Association, the most outstanding Union Officer of UEH in 2023, presented the honorary symbol to the new K50 salutatorians at Hall B1.302 with the hope that they will continue to foster the spirit of learning, further promote dynamism, creativity and together develop a community that has a positive influence on society.

Since that day, the 50th generation of UEH students will officially embark on a new journey - the Infinite Sustainable Journey.
