The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony between University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) and University of Saint Joseph (USJ), Macau took place successfully on the morning of May 19, 2023 at Campus A UEH, 59C Nguyen Dinh Chieu, District 3.
Attending the signing ceremony, on the sidebehalf of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City was the participation of Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - President of UEH; Dr. Dinh Cong Khai - Vice President of UEH; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Phan Thi Bich Nguyet - Chairwoman of the UEH Strategy and Policy Advisory Council; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Trinh Thuy Anh - Vice Head of UEH College of Technology and Design (CTD); Dr. Thai Kim Phung - Vice Head of UEH College of Technology and Design (CTD); Dr. Ha Van Son - Vice Dean, in charge of UEH School of Mathematics and Statistics; Dr. Trinh Tu Anh - Director of the Institute of Smart Cities and Management; Dr. Chung Nhan Phu - in charge of Institute of Applied Mathematics, and Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao - Head of General Department of UEH College of Technology and Design.
On behalf ofthe USJ side, there was the participation of Prof. Álvaro Barbosa - Vice President of USJ, Prof. Carlos Sena Caires - Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, and Mr. Pedro Sou - Department of Student and Alumni Affairs, and other guests. In particular, the signing ceremony was also attended and witnessed by Mr. Afonso Carlos Neves Vieira - Honorary Consul of Portugal in Ho Chi Minh City.
University of Saint Joseph (USJ), was established in 1996 in Macau, and was built on the model of leading Uuniversities in Europe. USJ is in the top 401 - 600 Uuniversities according to THE Impact Rankings 2022 and ranked at 92nd position in the world for quality of education.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - President of UEH - emphasized the importance of promoting international cooperation toward the implementation of the development strategy of UEH to become a prestigious multidisciplinary university in Vietnam and the Asian region, towards the sustainable development of the community. Therefore, building relationships with USJ in many fields, especially in cooperation on linking training programs, scientific topics, and activities such as student exchange and human resource development programs, will mark new steps in the sustainable development of the two units.

On behalf of USJ, Prof. Álvaro Barbosa - Vice President of USJ - also expressed his gratitude to UEH for the warm welcome and organization of the signing ceremony , and was excited that UEH is the first Uuniversity in Vietnam that USJ had the opportunity to exchange and to sign cooperation. With the rapid development of Vietnam in Asia, USJ believes that building a cooperative relationship with UEH - one of the region's prestigious Uuniversities, will contribute to improving research capacity, training, and discovering new projects in many fields, especially in areas where both sides are focusing such listed as design, innovation, information technology, and incubation.

At the signing ceremony, Dr. Dinh Cong Khai - Vice President of UEH - shared that UEH always focuses on building cooperative relationships with domestic and international partners, especially in scientific research activities, developing dual-degree training programs, and exchanging experts and students. In addition, the two sides may consider developing more exchange programs for trainees and PhD candidates to bring the most practical knowledge and experience to learners; , and at the same time, creatinge opportunities for them to explore and to learn more about the local culture and people.
Dr. Dinh Cong Khai - Vice President of UEH - emphasizinged that international cooperation has always been emphasized by UEH in parallel with the development of training quality.
USJ is a university in Macau that has a close friendly relationship with Portugal with many years of exchange and cooperation activities. Therefore, attending as a guest of honor, Mr. Afonso Carlos Neves Vieira - Honorary Consul of Portugal in Ho Chi Minh City – stated said that the cooperation signing ceremony between UEH and USJ is an event marking another step in the relationship between Vietnam and Portugal. He also hoped that in the future, the two countries can develop together in other fields.

Within the framework of the visit to UEH, in the morning and afternoon of May 18, 2023 at Ccampus B, 279 Nguyen Tri Phuong, Ward 5, District 10, Prof. Alvaro Barbosa and Prof. Carlos Sena Caires also presented at 02 workshops themed "Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Creativity" and "Design Thinking Methodology and Text-to-Image Artificial Intelligence".
