Overview of the Seminar
Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong - Deputy Director of the Southern Affairs Department, Ministry of Science and Technology began by stating his expectation that the Seminar would serve as an open and communicative forum to discuss innovative approaches to implementing smart healthcare, and simultaneously, initiate inter-departmental collaboration across multiple start-ups and leading medical experts in the country.
Then, Mr. Ngo Thanh Son - Deputy General Director of VMED Group, Head of Healthcare Technology Sector also elaborated on his mission and plan joining VMED, which was to form a more coherent partnership between tech companies and healthcare organizations”

The first item on the agenda was a report from MSc. Dang Thanh Hung – Head of IT Department at Children’s Hospital 1 / Deputy Head of IT Department of HCMC Department of Healthcare, titled “Automation and Digital Transformation at Children’s Hospital”. Mr. Hung was able to captivate a few initiatives carried out by the Hospital over the last few years, including digitizing department and patient’s information, inpatient expenses, invoices, chronic illnesses and other specialities, etc. Additionally, Mr. Hung moved to introduced other smart projects accomplished at the hospital, such as data warehousing, drug procurement bidding, medication warehouse, etc.

In the face of both growth opportunities and challenges in our economy, especially within the healthcare industry, experts trained in med-tech have come forth to dissect and discuss their start-up projects with the rest of the seminar attendees.
Mr. Nguyen Hoai Nam - CEO of Jio Healthcare on creating a comprehensive healthcare ecosystem (clinics, laboratories, pharmacies, healthcare insurance) and on-demand healthcare services, both online and at-home.
Mr. Nguyen Bao Thang - Southern Regional Representative of Healthcare Technology Joint Stock Company (FaCare) on the combination of smart healthcare equipment and information technology (IoT) application when monitoring healthcare services.
MSc. Le Thi Thanh Tam - Head of Intellectual Property Management Division, Science - Technology Research Department touched based on the fact that there is an imperative need for universities to have smoother collaboration and coordination with businesses so that more scientific research can be conducted with higher accuracy and probability for practical applications.
In addition, Mr. Nguyen Francis Tuan Anh - Senior Consultant on Technology and Solutions of VMED Group, Member of the Professional Advisory Council of Healthcare Technology Sector, moved to discuss the foundational connections between 5 relevant entities (University – Government – Scientists – Businesses - Community) and how they, when combined, can form a cooperative playing field for all leading med-tech organizations. The project hopes to bring about breakthrough innovations from the US to Vietnam and later other international markets via partnerships between startups and industry experts, etc.

Concurrently, MSc. Le Thi Thanh Tam added to the dialogues several start-up products from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy: "Application of AioT acupuncture equipment in healthcare" by MSc.Dr. Le Minh Luat - Lecturer in Acupuncture Department, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, HCMC; and Project "Ponset - In A new treatment for Clubfoot" Nguyen Thi Thu Hang - 6th year student of University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City.

As part of the Southeast Innovation Start-up Festival 2020 (TECHFEST Southeast 2020), the “Digital Transformation Solutions to Revolutionize Smart Healthcare” Seminar was successful in creating an open space for distinguish guests and leading healthcare experts to converse and elaborate on ongoing and future initiatives. Through the program, the Seminar hopes to, in part, contribute to the building of a holistic ecosystem, conducive to start-up thriving in STEM development, more specifically in healthcare, so as to promote more domestic and international partnerships.
