Focusing on three Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—providing opportunities for students from various backgrounds (SDG1), building fair access to education and motivating students to achieve (SDG4), and fostering community connections in support of education (SDG17)—the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) has implemented extensive financial aid policies. In 2023 alone, UEH provided over 10 billion VND in support to students in need.
Tuition and living expenses can be significant burdens for students and their families, especially over the 3.5-year academic journey. Understanding these challenges, UEH has developed a range of financial policies, including:
These efforts aim to ensure that 80% of students from disadvantaged backgrounds graduate with stable employment, benefiting both the community and society.
The Academic Support Scholarship is designed to help students from difficult backgrounds who strive for academic success. This scholarship is available twice yearly for undergraduate students with an academic average of Fair or higher and no disciplinary record. In 2023, the Department of Student Affairs (DSA) awarded 1,097 scholarships, totaling nearly 7.5 billion VND.
“Wings of Dreams” - Corporate Sponsorship Scholarship, part of UEH's Talent Nurturing program, offers students facing hardships the opportunity to complete their education. With support from individual, corporate, and organizational partners, UEH awarded 238 scholarships worth 2.5 billion VND in 2023, covering various expenses such as tuition and living costs, providing vital encouragement for students.
Beyond scholarships, UEH’s Student Credit Program facilitates educational loans for students with limited financial means. In 2023, the program successfully disbursed 44 loans totaling 636,542,220 VND for tuition purposes. Key programs include:
At the same time, UEH also issued 2,295 loan documents for students who register through the Electronic Transaction Portal and need to borrow capital from the Social Policy Bank.
In addition to scholarships and loans, UEH provides affordable, secure dormitory housing, fostering a communal learning environment for students. In 2023, 56 students from disadvantaged backgrounds were supported with dormitory accommodations, and an additional 300,000 VND per month was discounted for policy-recognized students. The UEH Shuttle Bus service, with a discounted fare of 5,000 VND per ride, has served 53,526 rides in 2023.
Through its comprehensive financial aid policies, UEH aims to help students complete their studies successfully, preparing them to become global citizens.
