Breaking barriers in Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion (DE&I)

10 Oct, 2023

The Department of Student Affairs (DSA) hosted "Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Breaking Barriers" on September 30, 2023, to assist UEH students in becoming self-assured, adaptable, and successfully integrating in a multilingual environment after graduation.

More than 300 students participated in the discussions and exchanged ideas on sustainable development and DE&I culture in the workplace.

Does everyone have biases?

There are over 150 different kinds of bias, Ms. Ngo Thi Nam Phuong, senior organization development manager for Carlsberg Vietnam, informed the audience. So how does one overcome prejudice, adjust, and integrate successfully in such diverse and multifaceted environments, especially as a recent graduate?

More than 300 students can provide thoughtful responses to these inquiries and are aware that prejudice exists. We must comprehend, carefully consider, empathize with, and comprehend the circumstances and feelings of others.

The events provide students with knowledge and communication skills to help them adapt and develop in any working environment.

In today's living and working environments, it is crucial to comprehend the diversity of cultural and community groups. Also contributing to the discussion were Ms. Nam Phuong, Mr. Le Hoang Tuan, Senior Total Reward Manager, and Ms. Nguyen Minh Anh, Senior Organization Development Specialist. This will make it simpler to picture the workplace from a business manager's perspective and mentally and firmly prepare for the work that lies ahead.

Students who participated in the activity gained useful skills to strengthen and boost their confidence in the multiracial and multinational workplace. By offering a place for conversation and companionship through the program, the school helps students broaden their horizons of thought, develop empathy for others, and respect the value of multiculturalism. Encourage students to take action after that and follow the directive to become global citizens and act for sustainable development.
